RV Friendly Town Tambo Queensland, Tambo is located app. halfway between Brisbane and Mt Isa on the Matilda Highway. Tambo is the oldest town in central west Queensland with a rich history in agriculture including the wool and cattle industries. Tambo features a number of historic buildings and spectacular gardens – a popular way to explore Tambo is to undertake the Coolibah Walk along the Barcoo River where you will see the site of a1927 Qantas crash. There is also ample wildlife, however it is recommended you take the walk at dawn or dusk to maximise opportunity to see plenty of wild and birdlife. Visitors to Tambo can stay free of cost for up to 3 nights (72 hours) at the Stubby Bend Campsite, Racecourse Rd. You must have a fully self-contained vehicle to stay at this location – no tent or other camping. There are no facilities at this bush camping location.
