RV Friendly Town Fernvale Queensland. Fernvale is a small town situated on the Brisbane River, and approximately 30 kilometres north-west of Ipswich and just a little over an hour’s drive from the Queensland state capital Brisbane. A major reason why people visit Fernvale is for the markets that are held every Sunday morning. Fernvale is also popular for fishing, swimming, boating, other water activities and the many camping locations on the Brisbane River and Wivenhoe Dam. Visitors to Fernvale in fully self-contained recreational vehicles can get free short-term parking at Geoff Fisher Bridge for up to 20 hours. Pets are also welcome if kept on a lead and under control at all times. Potable water is located at the nearby Fernvale Memorial Park – a key is available upon request at Fernvale Futures Complex. There is a dump point located in Clive Street. Camping in tents or other vehicles is not permitted at this location – all campers must be fully self-contained.
