MOORA RV friendly town?
MOORA WA RV FRIENDLY TOWN ? My partner and I own a fully self-contained, clean and immaculately maintained motorhome, an asset to any campground. My partner is in her 70s and I’m in my 60s We travel every year for around 3 month and have like-minded friends all over Australia. We arrived in Moora WA the afternoon of Saturday 4/1/25. Entering Moora is a sign reading “RV friendly town”. This tells travellers there is a free or low cost public 24 hr (or longer sometimes) travellers rest area for fully self contained vehicles provided in town. Unable to locate the the exact spot from the internet, we checked the town map located at the council chambers. It shows “RV parking” next to the dump point in town and we parked there for a late lunch and a rest, beautiful spot, we felt blessed. Within an hour there at around 4 30 pm a ranger turned up. He seemed agitated and said “you can’t camp here, go to the caravan park”. I explained our dilemma. There was no respect, just “ I’m not in the mood to do this right now” and then a rant about his children and being Saturday afternoon and we were threatened with fines if we don’t leave. My partner and I had a beer with afternoon lunch and told the ranger, we’re not prepared to drive right now, as we may be over the limit. I further asked him where the RV parking area was, did we park on the wrong spot ? He replied “there is no RV parking in town, if you’re not gone by 6pm I’m going to start writing out fines”. We had no choice and we were forced to drive, possibly over the limit. Hmmmm, wonder what happened to the “RV friendly town* ranger…..? Or is there an expiration date on “ RV friendly town” signs ? We forwarded this email on 6/1/25 to MOORA COUNCIL but they have not replied. 13/2/25
