RV Friendly Town Windorah Queensland. Windorah is a small community in Central West Queensland some 35km from where the Thomson joins the Barcoo River. Windorah was established in the 1880s by the Whitman brothers and has a tiny population of some 80 permanent residents. Windorah’s main industry is farming, notably sheep and cattle grazing, and which is due primarily to the abundance of Mitchell Grass available. There is a dump point and potable water at Quilpie Windorah Rd, Windorah. You can camp in self-contained and other vehicles at the Cooper Creek Camp Area, Diamantina Development Rd. There is no cost, and the site has toilets, shade and picnic tables. Pets are allowed if kept on a lead and under control at all times.
